AAPI Reading Hour with PS 184

Grace Lee AAPI Reading Hour on Monday, November 14, 5:30-6:30pm, Potluck at 4.30 – 5.30pm

New York, NY – AAPI for Change and Super Happy Healthy Kids in partnership with PS 184 in the Lower East Side will hold an AAPI Reading Hour with special guests. Grace Lee will host the reading Today, Monday, November 14 from 6:00-7.15pm. 

AAPI Reading Hour showcases Asian speakers while celebrating Asian authors and cultures. This event will promote the love for reading and embracing AAPI heritage and history.  Raising awareness will encourage heart-to-heart discussions to avoid discrimination and violence.

AAPI for Change (www.AAPIforChange.org), which brings Asian speakers to public school to decrease violence against Asian. AAPI for Change raises awareness and educates people to stop discrimination and racism. We encourage everyone to be AAPI allies.

Super Happy Healthy Kids (www.SuperHappyHealthyKids.com), an anti-bullying after-school program located in the Lower East Side and Chinatown helping low income family and raising kids to be healthy, mindful, kinder and wiser.

We are committed to bringing different racial and ethnic backgrounds together to stand firmly against all forms of hatred and discrimination through civic engagement and open discussions.  AAPI for Change and Super Happy Healthy Kids are organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes.

Grace Lee is a community organizer, small business owner, daughter of immigrants, mom to three children, and a long-time resident of Lower Manhattan. She is an incoming New York State Assembly Member who has a proven record of getting things done for our communities. She will fight to ensure our children have a safe and quality education, our families have a livable and affordable place to call home, and small businesses will recover and thrive in this post-pandemic world.

Esther Yang is a mom, community organizer, educator, skin care and recipe developer, yoga, karate and meditation teacher. She is the Executive Director and Founder of Super Happy Healthy Kids and AAPI For Change.

Shuang Wen P.S./M.S.184 (www.ps184m.org), is a Chinese English dual language 3-K to 8th Grade NYC Public School which prepares students to become ethical, global citizens through a rigorous curriculum, high expectations and supportive environment with immersive dual language instruction in English and Mandarin. 

Dr. Jeremy Kabinoff, Ed.D is the principal of Shuang Wen PS/MS 184 for more than 3 years. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins and Hunter College since 2017. He’s active in the NYC Department of Education since 2011 as Principal of Michaelangelo Junior High School 144, Acting Superintendent in Community School District 11 and Principal Leadership Facilitator (Deputy Superintendent).
